How to Start a Women's Ministry Group

You'd like to join with other women, share God's word and minister to those less fortunate, but your church doesn't have a women's ministry group and you can't find one in your community. You may want to start a new one with specific goals in mind. This might be a chance to be of service. Go with your heart and take the first steps towards forming a rewarding group.

Instructions

    • 1

Reflect upon God's plan for your life. Determine the path you feel called to follow. Make a list of the things you would like your new women's ministry group to address. Perhaps you want to spearhead fundraising for the new children's wing at the hospital or maybe you want to organize a Christian volunteer club to help fight illiteracy.

    • 2

Contact your pastor, if you have one. He can give you the names of other women he thinks would appreciate membership in your ministry group. Ask him if there are special needs he would like to see your group address.

    • 3

Mail out invitations to an organizational meeting for all the women you would like to include. Explain briefly what you are planning and how you would like to proceed. Ask the women to RSVP and mention that they can sign up to bring refreshments to the first meeting.

    • 4

Develop an agenda before the meeting. Be prepared to ask for volunteers for the positions of treasurer, secretary and officer jobs if your group is going to be very large or will handle money. Detail your goals for the group and print out enough copies so every woman can have one.

    • 5

Present and revise your goals at the first meeting. Allow other women to have some input and discuss where the new group wants to go. Keep in mind that all opinions about accomplishing Christ's work are important and treat them all with courtesy and respect.

Plan your next meeting before you leave. Decide between holding them regularly in the church or in private homes. Ask members to start a refreshment sign-up list and appoint one woman to call and remind them a day or two ahead of time.

This is really great information. I am also starting an online Women's Ministry and a leader in Women's Ministry at my church. I love it and hope to encourage and mentor other young and older ladies to deepen their relationships and grow in their faith with God as their lead.

Thanks this was great. I have been reading on this subject and have already began preparations for the ministry. It's awesome how God will call you just when you feel you're not adequate!!! This way he knows you'll have to depend solely on him and not your book knowledge. Thanks Again. Great Article!
