You want to preserve your memories in the pages of a scrapbook. This popular crafting hobby has spawned specialty stores for scrapbookers, television shows and scrapbooking clubs. The supplies can be expensive, especially if you are the type who picks out pieces because they are cute. Here is how you can scrapbook beautifully on a budget.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Keep yourself organized in order to save money on your scrapbooking supplies. It is a good idea to do an inventory occasionally so you know what you have. Keep your paper in gallon-sized, clear freezer bags. Use a tackle box for your smaller pieces such as brads, sequins and eyelets. Use baskets or clear, plastic shoeboxes to organize your adhesives, pens and cutters.
Step2
Think outside the box on materials for your scrapbooks. Use scraps of stationary, fabric and household materials such as corrugated cardboard. A little sponge and some shiny paints can really make these items look one-of-a-kind.
Step3
Use your computer for cost-effective supplies. You can find and print all sorts of scrapbooking fonts from free sites on the Internet. You can also scan items in your home to create interesting papers. Scan pretty clothing items like lacy tops or fuzzy socks for a really interesting background. Print and you are ready to go.
Step4
Buy quality tools. This can save you money in the long run because you will not have to replace them as often. It is also a good idea to look for tools such as cutters where you can replace just the blade.
Step5
Save your scraps. You never know when a little slip of paper will provide you just the right touch for a project.
Step6
Look for versatility when you do purchase papers and other supplies. Double-dipped paper is a great cost cutter. This paper has a solid color and a pattern on either side. This can really help you save money because it provides coordinated options in less paper.
Step7
Look for freebies and discounts everywhere. Subscribe to magazines that offer discounts. Shop at a specialty scrapbook store. You may be able to use their die cutters for free. Ask other scrapbookers what they use and how they save money.
