Things You'll Need:
- High-speed Internet connection
- Phone device or headset
- Subscription to Comcast
-
Step 1
Order Comcast VoIP by visiting Customer Support at Comcast.com under Customers. There, you have several options for communicating with customer support. You can call the toll-free number listed, use email or chat.

Step 2
Establish a convenient time for a technician to visit your location and install an embedded Multimedia Terminal Adapter or eMTA device. An eMTA is similar to a cable modem and it gets connected to your phone and cable modem. Its function is to supply emergency services, such as E911, and to provide a backup power source against power outages.
-
Step 3
Retain your existing telephone number or, if you prefer, get a new number within your local calling area.
-
Step 4
Wait between 3 and 4 hours for the service to take effect, less if you live in an apartment or condominium.
-
Step 5
Plug your phone device or headset into your PC.
-
Step 6
Start making and receiving phone calls.
-
Step 7
Create an account at Comcast.com to allow you to perform account and billing management.
