All dental schools require you to take the DAT before considering you for admission. This doesn't mean that you will get into the dental school but it is a requirement for consideration. Unfortunately for some, trying to get the finances to pay for the DAT can be an issue due to the cost of living. Follow these steps to learn of possible ways to get the finances needed.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging
Step1
Borrow money from your family to pay for the DAT. Family members are almost always willing to help you out, especially if it means adding a dentist to the family. Make sure you pay them back as soon as you can, even if it is in small amounts.
Step2
Ask your close friends to help you out with the finances. Friends are there when you need them, especially something as important as this. Make sure that you return the favor if they need your help sometime, and offer dental care in their future.
Step3
Get a second job, even just for a short while. Look for temporary jobs in the newspaper or at a job-placement website such as Monster.
Step4
Stock away money well ahead of time. Set aside a percentage of your check every payday until you have the money you need to pay for the DAT.
Step5
Apply for a credit card. Use it specifically for the test then put it away. Pay money toward it every month until it is paid off.
Step6
Sell some of your possessions. You can sell a bike, furniture or old car. Have a garage sale and get rid of all the surplus in your house that you are no longer using to pay for the DAT. You can replace those possessions when you become a dentist.
