Whether you are a high school, college or Olympic wrestler or want to break into the glitzy ranks of pro wrestling, finding the right coach or trainer is key. Your coach will bring out the best in you and challenge you to grow in the sport. Follow these steps to get a wrestling coach who's right for you.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Start close to home. If you are a high school or college athlete, the team coach is your coach. Be sure to let your coach know what you need from him or her, and pay attention to learn all you can.

  2. Step 2

Talk to college wrestling coaches at matches if you're a high school athlete looking to be recruited at the NCAA level. Ask college coaches to recommend additional training for you.

  3. Step 3

Join a wrestling club if you want extra training, need more than your school coach can give you or are an independent amateur wrestler. Wrestling clubs can put you in touch with coaches who are members or affiliates.

  4. Step 4

Attend a wrestling camp. You can benefit from the coaching of camp counselors, and the camp can connect you with coaches who might take you on continuously.

  5. Step 5

Check out pro wrestling gyms and camps to find a trainer or coach for this very specialized form of sports entertainment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Get coach recommendations from other wrestlers.
  • Interview a coach before signing on. Be sure that your goals are similar and that the coach has the time to give you.
  • Don't hesitate to change coaches if your current situation is not working for you. Keep looking until you find a wrestling coach who will help you develop your skills.
