1
Allow yourself plenty of planning time. One to two months should be sufficient. Because raves tend to draw large crowds, you'll want plenty of time to make the best accommodations for this group. Don't try to throw together a rave at the last minute. Hardcore ravers will have big expectations, and you don't want to disappoint.

2
Select the space. This is vital. You must prioritize ventilation, and also think about ventilation without too much noise leakage. Think about safety of location, and whether the neighborhood is residential (where neighbors may complain about noise). Make sure the area is safe and allows adequate parking as well. If you have any feeling you may be picking a spot that will cause you trouble, find a new location or don't hold the party. The last thing you want to happen is for your event to get busted by the police.

3
Plan space for dancing, but also quieter areas where people can relax and talk without having to fight over the sound of music.
-
4
Think about sound and tables. Ask a friend or a DJ if you can use their equipment. Plan to have an extra needle and some spare wires available just in case. Think about the available space and determine how loud you want the music. Are there neighbors to worry about? Make a plan of your space on paper, and play around with different setups. Think about outlets and the direction you want sound to flow. Make sure there are places to hide wires to keep people from tripping, and enough room for DJs to move around.
-
5
Hire a DJ. Ask friends or find some club/weekly DJs you like. Ask them what they like to play and if they enjoy raves. If you're asking a friend and it's a small house party, you may be able to get their help by repaying them later. If it's a big party with more than 100 people, be prepared to pay money for their troubles.
-
6
Organize a committee or crew to help with the plans. Make sure you have helpers to man those letting people in the party and taking admissions if they have them. Have staffers you can bartend as well, and make sure security is taken care of. Ask your committee to help with ideas for activities during the event. Ideas might include a dance-off, costume contest, etc.
-
7
Get help cleaning up once the party is over.

A word to the wise to please NOT take those psychedelic hallucinogens (or any drugs, for that matter) such as ecstasy, lsd/acid, pcp/angel dust, mescaline, psilocybin mushroom or even meth as they all mimic symptoms of severe mental illness especially schizophrenia. Please instead surround yourself with those who have a positive influence in your life and join some after-school clubs. Please take good care of yourself and make good, healthy choices in life.
