A funky concept car can be quite the collector's item, as long as you have the space to store it. Each model is a unique representation of an engineer's whim. Often, they are constructed from a hodge-podge of materials that were not made to last. To preserve you concept car, consider the following.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Review your homeowners insurance and make sure your concept car is covered under your current policy. You may also wish to purchase some kind of collector's insurance, to protect against the damage, theft or value depreciation of your concept vehicle.
Step2
Allow for plenty of space when storing your concept car. If you are keeping it in your garage, make sure it is kept out from under-loaded shelves and far away from bikes and lawnmowers.
Step3
Keep your concept car in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment. Concept cars are usually destined for destruction after they leave the showroom floor. With that in mind, they are made from plastics, fiberglass and even wax; all of which will warp and crack easily with exposure to heat, cold and moisture.
Step4
Find out what kind of drivetrain is installed in your concept car, if it runs. Most concept cars were just made to be looked at. Some, however, were given the engines of other company models. Knowing what kind of engine is in your concept car can help you find the right mechanic and replacement parts.
Step5
Keep your car covered if you are not using or working on it. There are companies out there that will make a cover to custom fit any vehicle. Covering your concept car will keep the paint out of the sun, preserving your fragile investment for a lifetime.
