They make the decisions and handle receiving and distribution. There are many benefits of a food buying club. You save money, get products that you can't find at the local grocery store and support organic farmers.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

Educate yourself on how a food buying club works. Members pool their orders into a single order, send it to a warehouse, then arrange for delivery once a month. Everyone helps out in some way, volunteering their time in exchange for cheaper prices. Often, you save 30 to 40 percent on your orders.

  2. Step 2

Search for an existing food buying club in your area. There is a list available through United Natural Foods. You can also ask your local co-op or health food store if they know of a local club.

  3. Step 3

Start your own food buying club. Talk to friends, neighbors and family members about the benefits of a food buying club. Get them involved. Set up committees to figure out a delivery site and meeting time. There's a kit available through the National Cooperative Business Association. It's full of tips to help you get started.

Tips & Warnings
  • It's easier to join an existing buying club than to start a new one. Being in charge of a group takes a lot of time, dedication and effort.
