A lot of people use instant messaging, or IM, to get some sexy banter started with people they know, or with new friends they make in chat rooms or other adult-oriented websites. Because your hands may be busy doing other things, a lot of folks use sex acronyms to cut down on the number of keystrokes they have to type during steamy online encounters.

Familiarize Yourself With Common IM Sex Acronyms

  1. Step 1

Ask the person's "ASL" if you meet them online. This stands for "age/sex/location." If they tell you they're under 18, move on to a different person.

  2. Step 2

Get things started by learning the common acronyms used to initiate online sex. Sometimes things get started with a simple "KFY," or "kiss for you." A more direct approach you can use is "TDTM," which stands for "talk dirty to me." Usually, people who know what these acronyms mean are not new to the world of IM sex chat, and will happily engage you.

  3. Step 3

Let the other person know you're entering a state of undress by using the "NIFOC" sex acronym. It means "naked in front of the computer" and, well, you can infer where that might lead.

  4. Step 4

Heat things up by telling the other person to "GYPO," or "get your pants off." Another way to let the person you're having an IM sex chat with know how you're feeling is to tell them "IWSN," meaning "I want sex now."

  5. Step 5

Stick a simple "OMG" in there if the other person's sex chat is doing the trick for you. It stands for "Oh my God," and communicates your enjoyment of the sexy conversation.

  6. Step 6

Discover a person's sexual orientation by asking "SorG." It stands for "straight or gay" and is a very direct way of whittling down the playing field so you can find what you're looking for.

  7. Step 7

Use acronyms to take things to the next level, once you've established an ongoing relationship with the person on the other end of your IM sex chats. "WYCM" means "will you call me?" If you're ready to turn things up another notch, "LMIRL" means "let's meet in real life."

Tips & Warnings
  • Exercise extreme caution in giving out your personal information to people you meet in chat rooms or online. No matter how nice and safe the other person may seem, at the end of the day you simply have no way of knowing who's really on the other end of your conversation.
