How to Collect Chaos Emeralds for Sega Sonic Rush
Sega Sonic Rush is the first of the hedgehog's adventures on Nintendo's DS system. If you collect Chaos Emeralds during the game, then you get access to special levels and bonuses.

Watch for the special generators during different levels of Sega Sonic Rush. Recognize them by their star in the center and two handles on the sides.

Jump into the generator and hang onto it. Press and hold either the X button or Y button to charge up Sonic's boost. Check to be sure that you have around 105 percent tension or else nothing will happen.

Defeat more enemies or do tricks to raise your tension value. Try to activate each gate to the Chaos Emerald when you find it to avoid replaying each level several times. Get a tension item box to raise your value to 100 percent.

Warp to the special Chaos level after holding the button down in the gate for a few seconds. Get your DS stylus ready because you need it to control Sonic during these special stages.

Use the stylus to move Sonic and make him jump in the half-pipe to grab rings. Collect enough rings during the first half of the stage to make it to the second half, or you will get kicked out of the level. Meet the new ring requirement in the second half of the level to get your Chaos Emerald.

Beat the special stage in each zone to collect all of the Chaos Emeralds. You can save your game immediately after getting an Emerald to be sure that you don't lose it. Play the secret final level in Sega Sonic Rush after you collect all the Chaos Emeralds and finish the game with both Sonic and Blaze.

Search gaming websites for a complete save file with all of the Chaos Emeralds if you can't collect them yourself. You will need to download the file to your computer and then transfer it to your DS with a USB cable and possibly a special gamecard reader that attaches to your PC.

Tips & Warnings
During the special stages, the silver rings are worth 5 golden ones.
If you pause the game during a special stage, move the stylus and then unpause, Sonic will instantly move to where you placed the stylus. This little cheat can help you collect Chaos Emeralds on your first try.
You can listen to all of the tracks in the sound test after you collect every Chaos Emerald and finish the game.
