While playing nude volleyball is virtually the same as its more common counterpart, it is important to take additional precautions in finding an appropriate venue, as well as protecting your body against the rigors of this sport. By playing a bit more conservatively than usual, and by relaxing and enjoying the outdoor weather, you can have a great time when you play nude volleyball.

Enjoy Playing Volleyball in the Nude

  1. Step 1

Familiarize yourself with the basic rules of volleyball. The game is basically played to the score of 21 (with victory only achieved with at least a two point advantage), with points only scored by the serving team. Each side can only have contact with the ball 3 times before it must cross over to the other side of the net.

  2. Step 2

Make sure you have all of the materials needed to play nude volleyball, such as a net, a ball, and markers for the boundaries of the court if you plan to play in the sand or on the beach. Each half of the court should measure 8 by 8 meters, with lines made with either ropes or by dragging one's foot in the sand. Make sure that the net is taught and does not sag in the middle, with the top of the net measuring approximately 2 meters high.

  3. Step 3

Use plenty of sunscreen when you play nude volleyball outdoors, since body parts that are not usually exposed to the elements may become easily sunburned. Some nudists say that nothing hurts worse than sunburned genitalia or buttocks, especially when you try to put your clothes back on.

  4. Step 4

Play nude volleyball more conservatively that you would if you were wearing clothes. The diving saves that are common to beach volleyball could result in a painful injury, since sand can be unusually abrasive. You also want to avoid having excessive sand get into places where it might be hard to get out.

  5. Step 5

Drink plenty of water when you play nude volleyball. Perspiration may evaporate more quickly off your skin if you are not wearing clothes that help insulate your surface body temperature, and you may dehydrate more quickly.

  6. Step 6

Bring a towel with you when you play nude volleyball, which will give you a cool, dry, clean and sand-free place to sit in between games.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you play nude volleyball on a surface other than sand, you should probably wear sneakers in order to protect your feet.
