Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Know that nudity is always allowed, for obvious reasons, in the locker or changing rooms of a spa. While for many people this may go without saying, some first timers may still feel a bit modest about changing their clothes, especially if there are others around. Robes and slippers are usually offered for comfort and modesty in these cases.
Step2
Feel free to use the steam room, sauna or hot tub in a spa while nude, as long as there are separate facilities for men and women. Make sure you shower before entering a hot tub or Jacuzzi, however, to reduce the chances of water borne illnesses that may be spread to others.
Step3
Strip down completely when you receive a massage at a spa. The masseuse or masseur will use towels to cover your body while you are being massaged, and will only expose the area being worked on at the time. You may always opt to wear your underwear if you feel uncomfortable in the presence of a stranger.
Step4
Follow nudity etiquette at a spa by remaining fully clothed for such treatments as Thai massage or reflexology. If you have a question or are concerned about whether or not you should be clothed for a certain type of treatment, simply ask your therapist for guidance.
Step5
Request a pair of disposable panties if you feel modest about nudity during such treatments as a salt glow, mud bath or Vichy shower. This may be a good idea not just for the sake of modesty, but for hygiene reasons as well.
Step6
Ask for thorough and complete guidelines on how to follow nudity etiquette when you first visit a spa. The rules may be different from spa to spa, and some facilities may be more casual in their attitudes toward nudity than others.
