-
Step 1
Launch the LimeWire application by clicking its icon in your progam dock or through the "Start" menu.
-
Step 2
Locate the "Select Search Type" field. Select the "Audio" button to limit search results to songs only.
-
Step 3
Enter the necessary search information to find the songs you're looking for. Available search fields include "Title," "Audio," and "Album." Additional information can be used to narrow your search results.
-
Step 4
Scan the search results to find the music you're looking for. Use the tabs at the top of each column to sort your search results if needed.
-
Step 5
Use the category headings to narrow search results by genre, artist or album. Depending on how much information you initially entered for your search, you can further narrow down your results without having to start a whole new search.
-
Step 6
Double-click the name of each file you want to download. A new information box will appear, detailing the status of each file download.
-
Step 7
Conduct more searches by clicking the "Back to Search" button. It's possible to conduct more than one search at a time by repeating steps 3 to 5 as needed.
-
Step 8
Monitor the progress of your downloads. When songs have finished downloading, a blue progress bar will let you know. Highlight the name of a completed download and click the "Cancel" icon to clear it from your queue.
-
Step 9
Watch the "Status" report on your download. The message "Need More Sources" means that your download has temporarily stopped. When other LimeWire users with that song sign on to the network, your download will resume.
-
Step 10
Fear the dreaded "Need More Sources" message. When a download can't be completed, its status will change to "Need More Sources." Highlight the song's title, click the "Cancel" icon below and begin the search again.
-
Step 11
Click the "Library" tab. From there you'll be able to find all completed song downloads for your listening enjoyment.
