How to Use Collars in Bondage Play

Wearing a collar during bondage play is not only a powerful symbol of someone's dominance over you, it is also a wonderful way to be tied up. You can be led around like a dog on a leash or be secured to other restraints through D-rings on the collar. There are several types to choose from, depending on your preference.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Get a fake fur-lined metal collar for comfort during play sessions. These collars are incredibly comfortable compared to their leather or rubber counterparts. You will need to provide your own lock for this kind.

  2. Step 2

Use a locking posture collar for training purposes. It will keep your slave's or submissive's head in position so he is always at attention. It will prevent slouching and help your partner focus on what you are training him for.

  3. Step 3

Choose a faux leather collar for a kinder alternative. Vegan Erotica sells custom-made vegan alternative collars or try Eros Boutique for leatherette bondage collars (see Resources below).

  4. Step 4

Place the collar on your submissive by putting it around her neck and either buckling its straps or placing a padlock through the rings provided. Leave some room between the collar and her skin so she can breathe easily and there is less risk of suffocation.

  5. Step 5

Attach a leash to the front of the collar to lead your submissive around during play. Avoid using a leash on the back of the collar like a dog, as human necks are built differently. A dog's neck is more protected than a person's.

  6. Step 6

Use collars to anchor other body parts together. You can lace nipple clamps on a chain through a ring in the collar or attach them to wrist, thigh or ankle cuffs. Prevent your submissive from walking away by attaching chains or ropes to the collar and anchoring them to hooks in the wall or furniture.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not wear the collar in public or private when you are not playing. In the bondage community, a collar is a symbol of a deep commitment between a dominant and submissive. To many people, it is akin to a wedding ring. Wearing a bondage collar as fashion can easily be misinterpreted by somebody who understands its meaning.
  • Always leave at least two fingers' space between a collar and your partner's neck or circulation to the brain can be cut off. Use collars designed for humans instead of dogs.
