Naruto costumes are likely to be in vogue for Halloween and costume parties for years to come. You can have a lot of fun by living out the Naruto saga for a few hours in full costume and regalia. To make sure you aren't one of three Narutos or five Sakuras at your next costume party, you may want to pick a lesser-known character.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Study Naruto Movies and Manga to Get Costume Ideas

  1. Step 1

Watch the full-length movie "Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow" to see the main Naruto characters, as well as others central to the movie. The popularity of this film will help ensure that your friends and neighbors--at least the kids among them--will recognize a well-designed costume.

  2. Step 2

Look carefully at the cartoon panels in your favorite Naruto manga books to get up-close ideas about how to create a costume for your favorite character.

  3. Begin With a Distinctive Accessory

  4. Step 1

Select or design an item of jewelry to represent the hexagonal shaped crystal pendant that Yukie Fujikaze wears around her neck in "Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow" if you want to design a costume for the actress and play her dual-role part.

  5. Step 2

Use accessories such as a prop dagger and a long dark cape-like coat to highlight your transformation into Yukie's manager, Sandayu Asama. Tie an eyedropper to the dagger so you can help Yukie shed fake tears as Sandayu did in "Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow."

  6. Find the Clothes to Create the Rest of the Character's Costume

  7. Step 1

Check around the house for the right pieces to complete the costume you are designing. A camouflage flak jacket may do the trick for Kakashi, or a long red or purple coat with white fringe for Yukie.

  8. Step 2

Browse the costume choices at your nearest costume store, Target, or the CostumZee website's Naruto department to get additional ideas for clothing, accessories and characters (see Resources below).

  9. Step 3

Begin months beforehand to create the Naruto character, costume and effect you want to bring to life. That way, you can be on the lookout for the perfect articles from yard sales to your parents' closets.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can get plenty of great costume and accessory ideas by looking at the original manga books, but remember that they won't give you many clues as to the colors worn by many characters. (The mangas are often in black and white.) Check appropriate colors by watching anime episodes, movies or browsing the Shonen Jump "Naruto Collector" magazine series.
