RGSSM (Really Simple Site Generator - Modified) is an easy to use content generator for websites. Dreamhost is one of the largest blog and personal website hosting companies in the United States, known for its low prices and its control panel, which simplifies the management of websites, e-mail addresses, and web applications.

The following steps should help you install RSSGM on your dreamhost account fairly quickly.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • An account with Dreamhost
  • WinSCP or another graphical SCP client
  • The latest version of RSSGM from http://sourceforge.net/projects/rssgm/
  1. Step 1

Download RSSGM from http://sourceforge.net/projects/rssgm/ (IMPORTANT: see tips section regarding correct version).

Unzip the RSSGM archive into a folder called rssgm.

  2. Step 2

Launch winscp or another SCP client and login to your dreamhost site using your ftp/scp username and password.

Navigate to your website directory and upload the entire rssgm folder you just created.

Change permissions on the uploaded rssgm directory:

WinSCP specific: Right click on the rssgm directory on the server and select properties. Check the boxes R and W for Owner, Group, Everyone and then click OK.

  3. Step 3

Browse to http://www.yourdomain.com/rssgm/install.php and follow the installation instructions.

Tips & Warnings
  • Download RSSGM VERSION 1.35 here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=153966&package_id=170894
  • Please note that, as of this writing, any version higher than 1.35 seems to be broken due to a missing install.php file. For now, 1.35 is the latest reliable version of RSSGM
