Things You'll Need:
- greased lightning or other degreaser
- hot water
- your hands or a sturdy cloth
-
Step 1
Take them down. Remove the tabs at the top and they just slide forward. It is easier to clean them 2 or 3 at a time.
-
Step 2
Take the blinds to your bathtub and lay them down in the tub. Using hot water, fill the tub to just over the blinds. Put 1/2 cup of degreaser into the hot water.
-
Step 3
Let the blinds soak for about 10 to 20 minutes. Agitate the water every once in a while. Hold the top of the blinds and lift in and out of the water.
-
Step 4
If there is still gunk on the blinds it should wipe right off thanks to the degreaser. You should put on some gloves and wipe each blade of the blinds down, or a washcloth would work.
-
Step 5
After you have done that you should drain all of the dirty water and rinse off the blinds with warm water. Then stand them on their end for a few minutes, so excess water will drain off.
-
Step 6
Rehang your blinds and carefully pull the slats apart. Let them hang all the way down for a little while so they can finish air drying. Now you are back in business.
