Once you find out that you are going to get married, you will find that there will be a whole list of things that you will need to do. After all, once you are engaged, there will be a whirlwind of planning. This planning process will include the important step of choosing a wedding date. Often mistaken as a simple step, choosing your wedding date is generally difficult if you already have a busy schedule or even a large family on both sides of the wedding party.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Sit back and give yourself a pat on the back because you are going to be getting married! This time in your life is very exciting and well worth the time and effort that you will be putting into the wedding event of your dreams.
Step2
Go ahead and grab a calendar and sit down with your partner to see if there are any special days or times of the year that stand out. Generally speaking, many couples will look to a particular season or month to hold their wedding and go along with a theme from their. Others may even like to use a special date because it holds a certain amount of nostalgia for them whether it was a landmark date in their relationship or that of somebody in their family.
Step3
Don't be afraid to work with your close friends and family members to see if there are any dates that simply won't work for them. Perhaps they have a vacation already scheduled out of town, there is another wedding going on that day or something else. By getting a general idea from all of the main players in your ceremony, you can give yourself a good idea of what days you can look for.
Step4
Certainly, take various times of the year into consideration when choosing your wedding date. During the winter months, it may be difficult for guests who live further away to travel in the case of any adverse weather.
Step5
If there is a certain location, caterer or DJ that you have your heart set on ahead of time for your wedding, you can also check to see if a date that you have in mind is good for them. This way, you can save yourself a certain amount of heartbreak later on when you find out that you cannot use a service or location that you really wanted.

Tips & Warnings

  • When choosing a date, don't be afraid to set two tentative dates in the beginning. This way if one that you have chosen becomes filled with problems, you can switch it to the next before you have anything set in stone with your reservations and family members.
