Dealing with litigation is an expensive reality for many businesses. As a quicker and less costly option, many businesses are choosing alternative dispute resolution. Here are some resources to help you find a qualified arbitrator.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make sure both parties agree to alternative dispute resolution before proceeding to find an arbitrator.
Step2
Ask your attorney. Many practicing attorneys have a broad network of resources and may be able to recommend a list of qualified local arbitrators.
Step3
Consult the American Arbitration Association (adr.org) for an online list of arbitrators.
Step4
The Better Business Bureau will also provide you with a list of arbitrators and mediators in the necessary area.
Step5
The Association for Conflict Resolution (acrnet.org) can recommend individual arbitrators or groups.
Step6
Contact JAMS (jamsadr.org), a group founded by retired judges in the state of California. They are an excellent resource for alternative dispute resolution.
Step7
Another group to contact is the National Arbitration Forum (arb-forum.com).
