Whether you’re scared, excited, impatient or blissed-out, being pregnant is a unique and emotional experience. Here are some tips to help you express your many emotions.
Start a pregnancy journal, which can be a cross between a diary, a scrapbook and a collection of letters to your unborn child. It’s a way to express your fears and thoughts and is fun to look back on after you’ve had your child.
Step2
Keep a secret object that represents your fears, your hopes and/or your child, such as a charm necklace, a small piece of cloth you keep in your pocket or a ring. Choose something you can wear or keep with you at all times. By touching this object, you will be connecting with yourself and your baby.
Step3
Call a child development specialist to ask questions or to express any anxieties you may have. Try the free hotline at 1-877-705-KIDS, or see if your insurance provider has a nurse hotline you can call.
Step4
Look for an online community of expectant mothers. You can connect, ask questions, share thoughts and experiences and learn about how to handle anything that may come up.
Step5
Talk to your partner. He or she should be supportive of you at this time, regardless of what emotions you may be feeling.
Tips & Warnings
Try starting a pregnancy blog to express yourself and to connect with an online community.
If you feel like harming yourself or others, including your unborn child, tell your doctor immediately.
