Optimal water intake varies for each individual and any one person’s requirements may differ from day to day. Some signs of insufficient water consumption… constipation tension overeating dryness kidney damage fever feeling too warm Some signs of excess water consumption… sensation of coldness weak digestion low energy The following steps will help you understand your daily water intake needs.

Step1
Listen to your body.
Your body will tell you how much water it needs and when. In other words, drink when thirsty. Do not drink just because you’re trying to gag down the recommended eight glasses.
Step2
Sweating:
Hard work, internal or external heat are generally good reasons for greater thirst and the ensuing large intake of water.
Step3
Clean, filtered water:
Regular tap water is the culprit for most people’s lack of “thirst”. Amazingly, when quality bottled water is available the more people feel thirsty. Your body is letting you know that it wants the pure and unpolluted water for optimal health.

on 1/2/2008 Very interesting perspective on this. I'll have to take this into account with my next glass of water. It's also good to know that we don't have to force ourself to gulp down 8 glasses a day.

on 1/1/2008 Thank you for this information. I stuggle drinking "tap" water, as your article pointed out "Regular tap water is the culprit for most people’s lack of “thirst”. " is my biggest excuse. this year's new resolution is drinking more water. I would get cold chills in the middle of summer..my hair on my arms and legs would stand up...i would be so cold it was a sign that i needed more water. Correct?
