      An Escape:
We are sitting in our office and in walks Mr. or Ms. Braggart to let us know the boss just gave him kudos on the project that we spent 40 plus hours preparing, researching and baby-sitting until it's completion. The boss is giving him credit!
This is where we get up and move away from the braggart. Head outside for the next step, because we will definitely need it after holding our breath due to the colorful metaphors we desired to say to him.

      Air:
Inside or outside, we need to breathe it out. Make sure we are alone so that we can release those colorful metaphors to the air. Count to ten, twenty or do whatever we feel we need to center ourselves and get collected. Why? Because we will need it for the next step.

      Patience:
There is a possible million of reasons why the braggart is the way he is. It is possible he had older siblings who took all the credit from him when he was a youngster. Whatever the reasons, we must keep being patient; as it will prove to our benefit in work and, most importantly, within ourselves.

      Tact:
The braggart awaits our every word. They are ready to play off what we have experienced; and, no matter what, they have had it better or worse than us. Using tact when speaking to them is not only beneficial to our self-esteem, it helps keep them at bay. Basically, we do not fuel their fire.

      Resolve:
We will not play their game. We are centered and we have a focus that enriches our Souls. Veangence is not an option. Showing this resolve shows the boss that we have leadership quality and that we are personally stable in who we are. The braggarts will come at us with words, unruly back-stabbing manuevers, knives and planes. They will try to knock our infrastructure, but we will remain strong and steadfast to our focus.

Yes, finding out what the game is and choosing not to play is helpful. Documenting my perception of their behavior is also helpful. Not only does this increase clarity but the information may come in handing in the event they try to negatively affect your work situation.
