You CAN make extra money as a stay-at-home mom or dad. These ideas will help you put a little money aside for that something special for your family or even help pay some bills. It all depends on how much time you are willing to dedicate to these ideas and how imaginative you can be.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

    EBAY it!
Yes, you won't believe what people will buy. Use PayPal with Ebay to make payments and shipments easier. USPS will even pick-up at your door to make it even easier. Use the FREE Flat Rate Shipping boxes and envelopes. You can order the boxes and envelopes on-line and they will be shipped to your door for FREE. Baby items are a HUGE hit on EBAY.

  2. Step 2

    Craigslist.
For those large items like cribs and ride-on toys that are too large for shipment, selling on Craigslist is great and it is completely FREE. The only downfall is that you will have people coming and going from your home to pick this stuff up.

However, its a great way to make money in your SPARE time. You can arrange for pick-ups to be made after all the kids have gone to bed or even on weekends.

  3. Step 3

    Ehow.com.
Write some articles! You never know what's going to be a big hit so I suggest writing about a few different subjects and see what works best for you. Its completely FREE and the money gets deposited right into your PayPal account.

  4. Step 4

    Pet Sitting.
I know this sounds crazy. Think about watching other people's pets in your home. I do not recommend watching any aggressive or large animals when you have children at home but watching small pets could be fun for all of you. Just think, you will NEVER have to buy your child a pet as long as you are watching other people's pets.

I also recommend that you have a way to keep the animals separate from the children, this will probably not be a good situation for apartment dwellers.

  5. Step 5

    After school babysitting.
This is only a couple of hours a day after school when you pick your child up from school. Why not pick up one or two more? Lots of moms and dads are doing this for extra cash. If your minivan and home are big enough to handle a few more children, this could be a very profitable idea.

However, it is a tremendous responsibility to take care of other people's children and this suggestion should be thought out very carefully before putting it into action. If you already feel your self spreading thin, this is NOT the job for you.

  6. Step 6

    Start a video blog.
Very soon, video blogs like me.tv will be paying subscribers to advertise on their site. Obviously, public sites will get more hits than private so think about what you'd like to start. The start-up fees are generally about $25 so don't spend what you can't afford to lose if it doesn't pay off. Especially since it has yet to be seen how much they will pay.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be creative about these ideas, how can you make the most of them?
  • Never spend more money on any of these ideas than you can afford to lose.
