Step1
Join the Team! Take your boyfriend or husband’s favorite team and make them your favorite team as well. Nothing will make him happier than to see you rooting for the home team or sulking with him after a big loss.
Step2
Dress the Part! The NFL has realized that ladies want to wear their team’s colors as well as the guys. Get yourself a lady’s sized jersey (they even come in pink) or a fitted/vintage T-shirt of your team. Wear it always on game day. If you really want to get him to fall for you; wake up early on Sunday and cook breakfast in your team’s apparel. He’ll never forget it

Go with the Flow! Watch for visual and verbal cues from your guy while you watch the game together. Celebrate a touchdown or a big play but always do it mildly. Don’t be jumping up and down higher than him. Make your celebration quaint but noticeable.

Get to know the Guys! Take notice of the players on the team. There may seem to be an endless amount of people on your team but keep a close eye on a few of them. It’s easiest to follow the stars on the team so watch out for the Quarterbacks, Wide Receivers and Running Backs. If you really want to go for it, read an article or watch a sports highlight show for more detailed information

It’s all about Timing! Admit that you are a rookie/novice football fan but say how intrigued you are by the game. Tell your guy that you don’t fully understand the game yet but you want to learn. Ask questions. Your guy wants to talk football. Make sure that you ask during commercials, timeouts or during downtime so as to not interrupt the game. Gauge his answers. If he seems annoyed, lay off. If he gets excited, ask more

Basic Training! Football may seem complicated and confusing at first but try to get to know the basics of the game. It’s very simple once it is understood and the best way to understand it is through experience. Pay attention to games for a few weeks and anyone can begin to understand the basics of how football works.
Step7
End of the World! The last thing (and maybe the most important) any gal needs to know to seem like a football fan is the importance of every game. It may seem trivial that your guy’s team lost but to him it is the end of the world. Each team only plays 16 games a year so any loss is a big one. Leave him to sulk if the team gets beat for a few minutes. He will recover in no time if he gets a chance to be upset for a minute or two. Let him know you are also upset about the loss once he is done sulking.

on 12/10/2007 Where were you seven years ago!!! I guess my poor husband got taken! I did all of this but, now that we are married I "turned into different woman" because I now have my own interests here, in town! And its NOT football! I guess during season, I can go back to "pretending!" It's never too late - but be sure to warn the women not to "drop the ball" so to speak, once they have landed their man!
