In order to make yoga as relaxing as possible, it is a good idea to do some pre-yoga relaxation.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a quiet spot either in the parking lot in front of your class or wherever you start from.

  2. Step 2

Roll the window down to catch the breeze. If there is no quiet spot, leave your windows up and turn on either the air conditioner or the heater (depending on the weather) and carry a favorite meditation CD in your car for this purpose.

  3. Step 3

Lay the seat back and close your eyes. Focus on clearing your mind and relaxing all the parts of your body.

  4. Step 4

Begin focused breathing once your mind is clear. For five seconds fill your lungs beginning at the bottom and filling all the way to the top until you feel you can't hold anymore air. Hold air for five seconds then empty the air out through your mouth for five seconds, beginning at the top of your lungs down. Repeat for 5 minutes.

Tips & Warnings
  • Do not do this any longer than five minutes, as you run the risk of an unexpected nap and missing class!
  • Pick an area facing away from traffic or people walking by so that you will not feel too self conscious about laying down in your car.
