Prepare your spring garden in the fall - inexpensively!!!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

In the fall, select an area for your spring garden.

  2. Step 2

Mow the patch of lawn to make room for your future garden.

  3. Step 3

Cover the newly mown garden patch with four layers of newspaper, then a four-inch layer of shredded leaves or bark mulch.

  4. Step 4

Hose it down so it is very wet.

  5. Step 5

on 3/18/2009 This is a good idea. I also like to line my beds with rocks and after I clean them out in the spring I add soil mixed with dehydrated cow manure so my plants have something nutritious to eat!
