Step 1
Decide how many teams you want in the league. Fantasy baseball is different than other fantasy sports due to the length of the Major League Baseball season. Remember this when choosing how many teams to have in your keeper league. If one manager decides that he is no longer interested in the league halfway through the season it could ruin your keeper league.
-
Step 2
Ask close friends and relatives to be in your keeper league. Since a keeper league goes on for several years you’ll only want to invite those people that you are close with. Having a close relationship with the owners will also help your fantasy baseball keeper league run smoothly.
-
Step 3
Decide on how long your keeper league should run for. Talk with the other owners in the league and get their opinions. Pick a length that is good for everybody involved
-
Step 4
Ask the owners their opinions on the rules and regulations of your keeper league. Since your keeper league will be running for several years it’s wise to make everybody happy. Ask the owners how the scoring has worked in their previous fantasy baseball experiences. Find out everybody’s preferences.
-
Step 5
Create the league without using a website. A fantasy baseball keeper league is much more complex than a regular fantasy baseball league. Create the league on your own using a word processing program and a spreadsheet. It will be easier in the end and it also makes your keeper league a much more personal experience for everybody involved.
-
Step 6
Have a live draft in person. Having a live draft is fun for any fantasy baseball league. Since a keeper league goes on for several seasons it is important that all of the owners have a good relationship with one another. Having a live draft will allow everybody to meet (if they haven’t already done so) and establish a good relationship with one another. This will ensure that your fantasy baseball keeper league is a success.
