With these instructions you will learn how to make a no-sew fringe fleece blanket.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 yards of Fleece Material (2 yards of one color and 2 yards of complimenting color)
  • Cardboard (for fringe template)
  • Scissors
  1. Step 1

    1. Lay both pieces of material (one of top of the other) onto a flat surface with long ends together; pin all the way around so that they will not slide around. (If all 4 yards are the same material cut them in half so that you have 2 pieces that are 2 yards each).

  2. Step 2

    2. Cut material so that both pieces are the exact same size and even with each other.

  3. Step 3

    3. Determine the size of you fringe using your cardboard. You will need a square piece of cardboard (I suggest 5"x5") and a seperate piece for the rest of the fringe (I suggest 1"x5").

  4. Step 4

    4. Take the square template and cut out each corner of the fabric (keep pieces of material together still). Take the fringe (1"x5") template and laying it along the edge of the material start cutting all the way around the blanket with the longer edge alongside the square corners. Make sure to cut through both pieces of material.

  5. Step 5

    5. Once you have cut your fringe all the way around start tying one piece of fringe to the opposite matching piece (tie it twice for a knot).

Tips & Warnings
  • These directions may also be used for a pillow covering. Lay your pillow form on top of the material and measure your fabric all the way around making sure you leave plenty of room for your fringe (plus 1 inch extra to allow for the stuffing).
  • Instead of using regular scissors try using pinking shears.
  • These make great gifts especially when a blanket is paired with a matching pillow.
  • Makes great dog pillow and blankets.
  • Make sure you use very sharp scissors. Cutting through 2 pieces of fleece can be tough.
  • Remember to remove all of your pins after you are done tying your knots.
  • Try not to tie your knots too tight since the material tends to bunch up.
