Since the release of the Burning Crusade, everyone wants to be a Jewelcrafter! There is so much competition, how can you break from the pack and make a lot of gold with it? What’s the quickest way to skill up and not be “just another” low-level jewelcrafter?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • World of Warcraft
  • Jewelcrafter
  • Auctioneer
  1. Step 1

The first thing to consider when you take up jewelcrafting is what other trade-skill you should take. Mining or Enchanting are highly recommended. Jewelcrafters rely heavily on ore and gems found through mining, but if you have another character that does mining, maybe take up Enchanting so that you can Disenchant the many bits of jewellery you make that won’t sell.

  2. Step 2

Next you need an auction-monitoring addon (Auctioneer is the most common - see below for a link to download). This will come in handy for a lot of other things, aside from just Jewelcrafting, but is vital for skilling up your craft.

  3. Step 3

Start skilling up! The best items to make are orange, as they guarantee a skill point. When it changes to yellow, it’s probably best to stop making it unless you don’t have any orange items to create. If that’s the case, be sure to go back to your trainer and make sure you have everything available.

  4. Step 4

Give it away. Yes, it might be hard to just give away your hard work, but with lots of jewelcrafters around (especially at the lower levels), it may be your only option. Besides, when you give something free to someone, they’ll usually tip. If nothing else, you might make a friend.

  5. Step 5

Create it for free. When you’re crafting, advertise in the Trade channel! Say that you’re willing to make certain items (remember: orange gives you skills!) for free, as long as the customer provides the materials. Some people really like this, because it means they can use the gems and stuff in their bank. They usually tip, so you get a skill point and a little coin for nothing but a bit of advertising!

  6. Step 6

Know what sells and what to sell it for. This is one way Auctioneer comes in handy. Some of your items, even at lower levels, are in high demand. Something you may be able to make for 1 gold might sell for as much as 5 gold. Make those items, price them competitively on the auction house and use the profits to further skill up. Just remember: don’t flood the auction house with 20 of the same item. Posting them one at a time has better results and doesn’t drive the price down.

  7. Step 7

The auction house is your friend and don’t forget it! Everyday, look for deals on the items that you’re using to skill up. The prices fluctuate wildly on most crafting items, so you may be able to get something for 1/3 of the usual price one day, where it’s twice the normal cost the next day!

  8. Step 8

Tell everyone! Have you ever joined a group only to sit around waiting for ever illusive priest? Tell your group members that you’re a jewelcrafter and offer to make them items for free (if you can skill up) or at cost. This will make you friends, get sales/skill and potentially get you a repeat customer in the future.
