1 tbsp superfine sugar(can be made by blending white granulated in a food processor for 3 pulses)
1/3 c chocolate or other flavored chips
about 2/3 c milk
greased cookie sheet
mixing bowl and dough attachment
rolling pin and flour coated surface
preheated oven to 425F.
Step1
mixing-only use a dough attachment instead.
Grease the cookie sheet and preheat the oven. Place the flour in a mixing bowl and cut in the butter by slicing small pieces into the bowl. Use your fingers to continue to roughly mix in the butter until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and chips. Mix in just enough milk to form a soft ball of dough.
Step2
rolling out
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to form a rectangle about 4 in X 6 in, about 1 in thick. Cut the dough in 9 pieces...triangles, rectangles, circles, it all tastes the same.
Step3
scones
Place the pieces on the cookie sheet spaced well apart. Brush each with a little milk and bake in your preheated oven for 10-12 minutes at 425F until the have risen and are golden.
Tips & Warnings
Again, use this recipe as a creative jumping off point. Mint chips, chocolate chips, peanut butter chips...all work. Add extracts like orange oil or peppermint oil make things better also.
Scones are like the baby of a muffin and a biscuit. They are drier then the muffin but more flavored then a biscuit. My solution is to eat with a lot of butter, but I heard that is bad for your heart.
