Make a Calendula-Orange Salt Glow

A salt glow (otherwise known as a salt scrub) is popular body treatment at health and beauty spas. Salt glows exfoliate and hydrate the skin, leaving your skin feeling soft and rejuvenated. There is no need to pay spa prices to enjoy the benefits of a salt glow! Making your own is inexpensive and makes a wonderful gift.

This recipe uses the all-natural essential oils of Sweet Orange and Roman Chamomile. These oils promote relaxation and are anti-inflammatory. Calendula, a member of the daisy family, has a long history of use as a wound-healing and skin-soothing botanical.

Relax, and enjoy the beauty of a natural spa treatment in your own home.

Tips & Warnings
  • Other body oils such as jojoba, apricot, or grapeseed may be used in place of the almond oil.
  • Calendula petals are added primarily for appearance and may be omitted.
  • Because this recipe uses natural ingredients without preservatives, it is best to use the salt glow within 3 months of preparing. Using a dark colored glass jar and avoiding direct sunlight will extend product lifespan.
  • For a beautiful gift, wrap the glass jar in an orange gauze or sheer fabric and tie at the top with ribbon.
  • While orange and chamomile essential oils are generally safe for adults and children, some individuals may be sensitive or allergic. If redness or a skin rash is observed, stop using the salt glow and rinse immediately.
  • Avoid contact on or near the eyes.
  • Do not substitute table salt for Dead Sea salt. Iodine and anti-caking additives commonly found in table salt may irritate the skin.
