How to Potty Train a Rabbit

If you want to potty train your rabbit this article is essential.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You’ll Need:

  • Hay or Plain Cat Litter (with no added chemicals or scents.)
  • Litter Box
  • Pooper Scooper
Step1
First put the litter box in the corner of the cage were your rabbit usualy pee's or poop's in.
Step2
The rabbit will continue to NOT use the litter box. But put the poop pellets in the litter box. So she gets the idea.

(If you use the hay the rabbit will be most likely attracted to the hay.)
Step3
Now if your rabbit uses the litter box praise him!

Tips & Warnings

  • Praise the rabbit for using the litter box.
  • Give him a treat or let him out of the cage for a while.
  • As he continues to use the litter box give him longer periods of time out of the cage.
  • If you use scented cat litter you rabbit could get very sick and possibly die.

on 12/20/2007 Clay cat litter is not safe for rabbits. Dust irritates their lungs, and worse, ingesting the clumping litter can cause GI blockages. Only use bunny safe litters like Carefresh, Yesterday's News, or hay/newspaper.

Spay/neuter makes littertraining much more reliable.
