Things You'll Need:
- comb
- hair clips
- varying sizes of iso rods
- perming papers
-
Step 1
Wash and dry hairMake sure that the hair is clean and dry. Shampoo the hair two times. Do not apply any conditioner or other product, this will cause your hair not to absorb the perm lotion.
-
Step 2
Section hair for permUsing your hair clips, separate the scalp into nine sections. The sections should be just narrower than your rods.
-
Step 3
Perm RodsStart with the first section (center crown, see picture) and
grab a segment of hair approximately as wide as the rod you are
using. Comb out the section until it is smooth and fold an end
paper over the segment about 1/3 of the distance from the end of
the hair. Lightly mist the folded end paper and hair piece
with your spray bottle and slide the end paper down past the ends of the segment. -
Step 4
Permanent iso rodsWrap the part of the end paper that is sticking out over the rod and roll the rod "under", winding the
hair evenly onto the rod. Stay as even as possible, gently pull on the hair as you roll the rod,
and once you reach the scalp, fasten the rod.
Grab another segment below the first and repeat the step. -
Step 5
Sectioned PermanentContinue with the second section (the center of the nape), then sections three
and four (right crown, right nape), five and six (left crown, left nape),
seven (right side), eight (left side), and 9 (top). Wrap the hair
down in each section - toward the neck in the back sections,
toward the ear on the left and right sides, and toward the face on
the top section. -
Step 6
Home permFollow the instructions for applying the perm.

on 8/24/2009 I have had perms all my life...some good and some so bad, I couldn't leave the salon and they had to re perm my hair the same day. That was a 9 hour perm day. God knows what she did wrong.
And by the way those FISH HOOK ends will need to be cut off....they tangle like crazy all the time. Been there done that with poor rolling jobs in expensive salons. I would get so pissed if the Stylist didn't listen to me before I let her have my hair. I pay for the time and the curls then she wants to cut them off....go figure. No girls, they should roll properly, and the ends should be fine, and not frizzed. And not have to be cut off after the perm. Been there many many times.
