How to Write a Love Letter to a Woman

Before tweets and relationship updates, love letters were the way to express your undying love to a woman. The power of a letter allowed couples to feel connected when seas kept them apart. Letters also have the power to transform history. One of the most powerful letters comes from Henry VIII to his mistress, Anne Boleyn. Even though he found them "'tedious and painful'" to hand write, he wrote them for her. In these letters, historians can trace the King's train of thought in divorcing from the Church. Let your feelings come to life through words and return to the love of yesteryear.

How to Write a love letter

1. Choose your medium. Decide if you will write the letter on stationary or are you going to type it out. You can even go so far as to use a quill and ink well.

2. Format your letter. Figure out if you want to tell her an enchanted story or a poem.

3. Draft your letter. While writing love letters can be a stream of consciousness, for many, the process can take days, weeks or even months. Go at the pace that feels right to you.

4. Say what you feel. A woman can read Shakespeare any day or famous love quotes, but letters from you don't come everyday. Spell out how you feel. You don't need flowery language to impress her. The fact that you are writing it from your heart is enough to melt hers.

5. Personalize the letter. Women love details, and if you can remember the special moments that you have shared then she is more likely to save that letter well into her later years . She'll treasure the beautiful moments that you've shared.

6. Don't repeat yourself too much. While repetition is a good persuasive tool, be sure to use it sparingly. There is no need to repeat how much you love her. If you must repeat then repeat the one thing that you want to highlight between two and three times.

7. Take a risk, and feel free to wear your heart on your sleeve. Remember that this letter is private and that you can share how you really feel. This should be for both of your eyes only.

8. Present the letter. You can seal the letter in an envelope or just with a kiss and leave it on her bed. Find a creative way to deliver it to her. Tailor her interests and passions into the delivery.
