Making the perfect sunny side up egg is all about patience. No longer do you have to go to Denny's in order to have your eggs sunny side up. You can do it yourself at home now!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Egg
  • Cooking oil or cooking spray
  • Frying pan
  1. Step 1

Turn on the stove at about medium to medium high heat.

  2. Step 2

Grease the frying pan with some cooking spray or about 1 tablespoon of cooking oil (vegetable, corn, olive, etc.).

  3. Step 3

Wait a few minutes until the grease has heated up. If using cooking oil, the consistency/viscosity will be similar to that of water. It will be more runny than oil usually is at room temperature.

  4. Step 4

Crack the egg over the pan.

  5. Step 5

Turn the heat down to low.

  6. Step 6

Let the egg fry for a few minutes. It will be ready when the bottom of the egg starts to brown and the top coagulates and doesn't run anymore.

  7. Step 7

Remove egg from frying pan by using a plastic slotted spatula. If the frying pan was greased enough and/or if you are using a non-stick pan, you should be able to slide the egg into a plate.

Tips & Warnings
  • It is important to cook the egg on low heat. This way, the bottom side of the egg touching the pan won't burn before the top is cooked well enough.
  • Be sure to watch it and not let it over cook! The egg won't be considered sunny side up if the yolk is cooked all the way through.
