We've come to associate sausage as a grilled delicacy. And we're talking the real deal - no Jimmy Dean breakfast links here. In common perception, sausage is something that's tossed on the fire by somebody (presumably you) wearing a "kiss the cook" apron. But that isn't necessarily. There's a finer and simpler art to cooking sausage, and it's one that happens indoors. Here's the quick fix for that sausage craving when you're too tired to throw flame on the grill

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Sausage (wurst, kielbasa, no matter).
  • Pan with cover
  • Olive Oil
  • Water

Step1
Lightly coat the pan with olive oil and set to medium heat.
Step2
Once hot, place the sausages in the pan. Brown each side (about a minute per).
Step3
Reduce heat to low, add about a half cup of water and cover.
Step4
Let cook for seven to 10 minutes or to desired tenderness, rotating the sausages half way through. If you have a meat thermometer, the ideal sausage temperature is around 160 degrees Fahrenheit.

Tips & Warnings

  • Gas stove tops tend to cook a bit more quickly.
  • Try using half the amount of olive oil coupled with about a half tablespoon over butter. It's delicious.
  • If it's your first time, closely monitor the covered cooking. Sausage can easily burn if you don't know your stove.
