Keep those cast iron skillets cooking forever!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Cast Iron Skillet
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Mild soapy water
  • Paper towels or paper plates
  1. Step 1

Only wash with a stiff-bristled brush and very very hot soapy water. NEVER SOAK the pan or you will see the rust spots as soon as it dries, and it will damage the cast iron finish.

  2. Step 2

Towel dry the pan immediately after cleaning, and coat it lightly with vegetable oil WHILE the pan is still warm from the hot water.

  3. Step 3

Store with paper towels or plates between pans so they don’t touch each other. I keep mine hanging from hooks on the kitchen wall.

Tips & Warnings
  • Use mild dishwashing soap to wash the skillet.
  • Stay away from abrasive solutions.
  • NEVER SOAK the pan or you will see the rust spots as soon as it dries.
  • Never use a scouring pad on the pan.
