Things You'll Need:
- Confidence
- Good Attitude
-
Step 1
Do more than expected. The most important step of them all. Doing various things while at work that are not required for you to do, your boss will take notice immediately. Your boss and supervisors want their employees to go above and beyond because it shows that you want to be there and you are willing to do more things on top of everything else you are doing.
-
Step 2
Volunteer to work when off. If you have the day off, always tell your boss that if there is an emergency that you are available for work. If you put yourself out there to work on your day off, your boss will think highly of you because not many people are that willing to do the same. And after a while, they will start to become dependent on you, in a good way.
-
Step 3
Have a good attitude. Bringing a good attitude to work always proves to everyone around you that you want to be there. It also gives everyone around you a better attitude so then your co-workers will want to be around you, including your boss. They want an employee to be happy and always in a good mood at work and they will to keep you around in the long run.
-
Step 4
Good relationship with boss. Keeping a good and healthy relationship with your boss will guarantee you a safe spot at your job and a great nominee for a promotion. Your boss will see you as the best of the best if you stay in good terms and will want you to work with or next to them when the time comes for you to step up.
-
Step 5
Never cause trouble. Not doing your job, coming to work late or not showing up at all on occasion will put you on the bad list real quick. You do not want to be known as the troubled child at work because you will be the first to leave when the time comes to job cuts. Always do what you are told at work and never be in the spotlight for the wrong reasons. If you do what you are told, come into work on time or even five to ten minutes early, more than once a week, your boss will never pick you out of the crowd or use you as an example of who needs improvement.
