Just about everyone knows about Google(http://www.google.com)as the premier search engine on the web. However it has quite a few other functions ,which are not as widely known. One of these is the ability to convert measurements of many kinds from one type of unit to another. This feature is enormously useful in many applications. In the example below it is used to convert units in a recipe.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the Google search page.URL http://www.google.com.

  2. Step 2

For this example imagine we have a recipe calling for 2 1/8 quarts of an ingredient,we want to know how many cups that equals.Simply enter in the search field"2 1/8 quarts in cups"

  3. Step 3

Google will do the calculation ,and return the answer as shown.

Tips & Warnings
  • In the same way google will perform arithmetical calculations, for details click on the calculator link as shown in the above illustration.
  • Many of you may remember composition books from elementary school which included a table of unit conversions inside the back cover.many of which were pretty obscure(at least to me).But if it ever comes up in conversation you can tell people that 1 rod is equal to 0.025 furlongs.
