A smile makes everything better!

Getting your baby to smile is one of the first things new parents look forward to accomplishing. Once you've survived the first five weeks, you can expect that little beauty to start looking at you and reacting to your expressions. Seeing a happy baby will make even the most tired parent melt. The key to a smiling baby is acting a little silly yourself.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • observation
  • creativity
  1. Step 1

    Smile at your baby.

  2. Step 2

Greet the baby in a high, lilting voice. Keep talking that way, talking nonsense.

  3. Step 3

Stick your tongue out and blow a raspberry sound.

  4. Step 4

Kiss the baby noisily on the cheeks and neck quickly, then come back up and smile.

  5. Step 5

Shake your head and make silly faces at her, using her name.

Tips & Warnings
  • Babies love to study your face, so anything you do with your eyes and mouth will fascinate a baby and make her respond.
  • Smiling too much might make you happy

on 1/27/2009 It's so important to capture a smile that you want to treasure. If you are proud of the shot, when your child becomes a toddler and pre school age, they will look back at the framed photo on the mantle with pride also.
