How to Detect a Miscarriage How to Detect a Miscarriage

Rate: (1 Ratings)

Miscarriage is a fear many women share during early pregnancy. During the first trimester, the risk of miscarriage is much higher than one might hope. If you fear a miscarriage, here are some methods for early detection.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Panty liner or Sanitary Napkin
Step1
Unwrap a panty liner from it's packaging and remove the paper backing. Place the panty liner on the inside of your underwear and wear for 1 hour.
Step2
Pull down your underwear and check for any spotting or bleeding on the pad. Bleeding is an early sign of miscarriage. Saturating more than 1 pad an hour is particularly worrisome.
Step3
Check for any loss of blood clots or tissue on the sanitary napkin. This could be the uterine lining or fetus.
Step4
Feel for any period-like cramping in your middle, lower abdomen. Cramping is also an early sign of miscarriage.

Tips & Warnings

  • Call doctor if you answer "yes" to any of these steps
  • Dark Red blood is more worrisome than brown or pink
  • Not all elements must be present for a miscarriage to take place
  • Severe abdominal pain directed to the side could be a sign of an eptopic pregnancy

on 9/24/2008 Even before I had a miscarriage, I knew i was gonna have one because of a strange feeling of pressure in my lower abdomen.. Then I started bleeding a couple of days later :( I believe that is also something to look out for..
