Ice chest. Ice chest.

We do a lot of hunting, fishing and camping so we go through a lot of ice. I got tired of paying for it, running out of it and having to find a place to buy more. That's when I started making it myself. I was surprised at how much we saved by making it at home, but not only that, but the ice I make at home lasts so much longer.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Containers.
  • Ice trays.
  • Freezer bags or some other bags to put ice in.
  • Freezer.
Step1
Containers. Put water into containers like old tupperware, butter containers, or any container that will hold water, I use all different sizes and shapes. Put into freezer.
Step2
Freezer. When ice is frozen solid take out of containers and put back in freezer, then refill the containers with water and freeze solid, repeat until you have a good supply of ice.
Step3
Ice trays. I do the same thing with ice trays, I use four to six at a time. When they are frozen solid I empty the ice into freezer bags or plastic grocery bags. Replete until you have a good supply if ice. You'll be surprised at how fast your supply of ice will grow.
Step4
Extra ice chest. When you go camping take an extra ice chest with just ice in it just to be on the safe side.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you want ice for your drinks, put some ice in zip lock freezer bags so the ice will stay clean.
  • The ice in the extra ice chest might stick together, you might want to bring along an ice pick.
