Categorize your Outlook email inbox with memorable colors. Assigning distinctive colors to each category organizes your work and indicates the location of each project. Change the color of a category and its name to maintain an efficient email box.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open your outlook email inbox. Select the "Categories" toolbar button and chose "All categories..." from the menu.

  2. Step 2

Click the category to which you want to assign a new color. Highlight the desired category. Click the "Color" button.

  3. Step 3

Use the drop-down menu to chose a color. Outlook offers 25 color options. The color you choose will replace the old color. Chose "OK" to close the menu option.

  4. Step 4

Review your inbox to organize your colored categories. When your category list exceeds the 25 colors allotted, reconsider your method of organization and realign some of your categories to mesh into one.

  5. Step 5

Use more colors if haven't reached the 25-color limit. Create more colored categories as needed.

  6. Step 6

Design a key or a legend to know which colors are associated with the appropriate category. Maintain this organization for an efficient email box.
