As the owner of a business franchise, you want to nurture and maintain a solid, open relationship with your franchisor. The corporate office can keep you in the loop regarding any new opportunities the company offers. Their business is your business, and your success will be safer when you have the strong backing of your corporate office. As with any good relationship, communication is the key.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Make sure that you totally understand the details of your original business contract. Clear the air of any and all questions as you go into the relationship. Many future misunderstanding can be avoided if you go into the agreement fully aware.
Step2
Let your franchisor know when you have any doubt about a decision. While this is your own small business, you do not possess the same level of creative freedom as an independent business owner. It is always safer to ask before you make any changes, rather than have to fix problems after the fact.
Step3
Utilize any Intranet opportunities offered by the franchisor. Daily electronic communication can maintain strong ties and takes less time than phone calls or waiting for a home office visit.
Step4
Offer to sit on the board of the franchisor. Most large franchises have many opportunities for franchisees to participate in the corporate business, either as advisory board members, outside trainers or model franchises for potential new franchisees to visit.
Step5
Take advantage of any offers for additional training . Being open to continued training will indicate your interest in strengthening the relationship between you and your franchisor.
