1
Inspect the motorcycle thoroughly. Check the tires, the lights, the oil and other fluids, the stand and the controls.
-
2
Decide what items you need for the trip and pack them. Decide how you will pack the motorcycle. Will you pack things in a saddle bag or in another compartment on the motorcycle? Consider the weather, and include all materials for all weather possibilities. Be flexible with your packing. Include some thick and some thin clothing. Don't bring any unnecessary items because it will only weigh the motorcycle down and in the end, cost you more money in fuel.
-
3
Prepare all maps. Highlight the areas you want to visit. Plan your hotel stays, your rest stops and other leisure stops before you leave. Knowing where you are going and where you will stop always helps make the trip go more smoothly.
-
4
Make a list of all emergency contacts and numbers. Put these in a safe place. They will come in handy if you have a wreck or other problems. Include any important medical information about yourself on this list. By doing this, you will help emergency people in case of an accident where you are unable to speak for yourself.
