Many people get frustrated with the rising costs of going to the movies. This is especially true of college students who are trying to pay their way through school and feed themselves. They want to enjoy their free time as much as anybody else, so starting a guerilla theatre group comes into play. Just find a big dark wall and run a drive-in movie. Follow these steps to learn how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Find some friends who are willing to start a guerilla theater group with you. They should be people who are dedicated to the cause of inexpensive recreation and aren't looking for a profit.
Step2
Borrow an LCD video projector from someone. You can also ask for donations from students, but you will need to get the word out about your guerilla theater group first. No one will donate if they don't understand the cause.
Step3
Pick a location to show your movie. You will need a large blank wall that will be dark at night. Avoid street lights and neon signs. Areas that are surrounded by warehouses, schools and behind suburban shopping malls are usually good places to look.
Step4
Inform the neighbors that you will be operating a free guerilla drive-in. Invite them to the shows, bake them cookies and give them your phone numbers if they have a concern or complaint. Be responsive to their needs unless you want a run-in with the law.
Step5
Decide on the movies you are going to show and make a schedule. Pass the guerilla theater schedule out ahead of time so people can plan what movie they want to see. Take requests from people.
Step6
Post notices on popular websites such as Craigslist, Indymedia, Tribe and Squidlist. Hang up fliers all over town such as bus stops, restaurants and laundromats.
Step7
Show the movie. You can either plug the LCD projector into a nearby outlet or connect it to your car battery. Make sure the movie is centered on the big wall.

Tips & Warnings

  • In order to support renting movies you can collect offered donation from patrons entering the movie. Of course, don't demand it or it defeats the whole purpose of starting a guerilla theater group.
