Step1
Find a local race track that sells pit passes. Go there and talk to the drivers and crew to get inside information on what it takes to be a driver. Use the Race Track Locator at the ChasinRacin website to find a race track in your area.
Step2
Hone your driving skills. You need basic skills before you can start driving at the track, but then practicing on a regular basis at the track gets your skills up to par so you can win races. If you're too young to drive, start at a go-kart track and work up to a car track.
Step3
Keep in top physical shape. Though NASCAR racing may not seem athletic, an overweight or out of shape driver is at a physical disadvantage. Regular exercise ensures that your driving skills and reflexes remain strong.
Step4
Enter races whenever you can. Start small and work up to bigger races as you win. Most small race tracks have open registration for at least some of their races. Visit the track's website or call them to find out when you can participate in a race. NASCAR talent scouts frequent regional tracks and may find you if you race regularly.
Step5
Pursue an education as you go after your NASCAR racing dreams. Today's driver needs a solid education to keep up with technology and present as a well-rounded individual worthy of sponsorships.
Step6
Attract sponsors as you rise in the racing world. Sponsors are key to your success because they provide funding and can help get you noticed by the public. In addition to your driving skills, maintaining a professional, friendly image at all times is the best way to attract sponsors.
Step7
Keep driving, even if you don't win at first. As in all sports, persistence leads to success in NASCAR racing.
