Begin planning events for National School Counseling Week in the fall of the academic year so that the plans are set after you return from winter break.

Order a National School Counseling Week kit from the American School Counselor Association website (see Resources below). The kit is packed with items that will help you to promote National School Counseling Week within your school and community.

Declare it National School Counseling Week in your school by running an announcement over the PA and by distributing a schedule of events to all teachers, students and staff.

Hold a special assembly or dinner to honor your school counselors. Encourage students, parents, teachers and staff to attend to show appreciation and support.

Present awards to your school counselors at the assembly or dinner, highlighting their personal contributions to the success of their students.

Step 6
Encourage all students and teachers to openly express their appreciation to their school counselors this week. Ask the students to write thank you notes to their counselors or to pay them a visit to thank them for all of their help.
