The trick to getting a valentine lies in your approach. If you have your eye on a special girl or guy this year, here's how to make them yours this Valentine's Day.

1. Buy her stuff. The time-honored tradition of showering a woman with gifts to get on her good side works every time. So if you want that special girl to be your valentine, buy her something that's heartfelt and expensive. She's guaranteed to give you a second look.
2. Compliment him. If you want to catch the eye of a male friend, the first thing you have to do is get his attention. Compliment his eyes, tell him he looks good in his new jeans and dare to tell him that he has a nice butt. He'll start to look at you in a different light, and you'll be well on your way to making him your valentine.
3. Offer to pay. No one wants to have to pick up the tab on a date, so when you invite your friend to Valentine's Day dinner, make sure she knows that it's your treat. Tell her that money is no object, and that you just want to spend time with her to get to know her better.
4. Just ask. The worst he can say is no.
