A Mississippi mud pie is that famously decadent sweet treat that comes in many varieties. This version of the dessert combines brownies and a gooey fudge filling in a chocolate crust for the ultimate chocolate overload.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 9-inch pie pan
  • Oreo or other chocolate cookies (1 1/2 cups crushed)
  • 6 tbs. butter
  • Brownie mix
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 squares unsweetened baking chocolate, 1 oz. each
  • 3 eggs
  • 3 tbs. light corn syrup
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  1. Step 1

Make the crust for the mud pie. You can either buy a premade chocolate graham cracker crust or make your own crust using crushed chocolate cookies and melted butter. Use about 1 1/2 cups of chocolate cookie crumbs with 6 tbs. melted butter, multiplying the recipe if necessary.

  2. Step 2

Make a pan of brownies from your favorite brownie mix.

  3. Step 3

Cut the brownies into squares and arrange them on top of the pie crust.

  4. Step 4

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

  5. Step 5

Melt the butter and chocolate squares in a saucepan, stirring constantly until blended.

  6. Step 6

Beat the eggs in a bowl. Add corn syrup, sugar and vanilla to the bowl and blend well.

  7. Step 7

Add the melted chocolate mixture to the egg and sugar mixture and stir.

  8. Step 8

Pour the chocolate mixture on top of the brownies in the pie crust.

  9. Step 9

Bake 30 to 40 minutes, or until the filling is set and the top of the pie is slightly crunchy.

  10. Step 10

Serve warm with ice cream for the best mud pie experience.
